Iloilo Designers Week 2 and More

One of the reasons I love Iloilo, besides the wide choice of food to eat, is the fashion scene. Fashion shows are everywhere, new designers pop up endlessly, and this is the place the pushed me to pursue my love for fashion. This year, this month particularly, makes me really excited because many events are lined up to keep the fire for fashion burning.

Here are some of the events I really look forward to going:

Last year, I had the chance to attend the first ever Iloilo Designers Week. This year, I was luckily accepted again as one of the bloggers to be participating. Here is the line up of the shows:

Also, one of my favorite photographers Bjorn Bedayo will luckily include Iloilo city to one of his upcoming projects, yehey!

and lastly, our school's org is organizing a fashion show for a cause called Biste.

I will talk more about these events on my next post, hopefully real soon, cause I am now in a hurry to go to a meet up with my fellow bloggers Em and Dawn, who are now having a stall on Plazuela de Iloilo's Bazaar. Hopefully you'll all be able to visit it.=))

IDW: On The Runway, SM Department Store

There is no denying, SM really has "got it all for you". For whatever you need, they have it in their stores, and at a low price even! And for us fashion-lovers, they have all the kinds of clothes you would want to have. They catch up the trend pretty fast, and when you find something you really want in some stores or on line, and you can't afford it, you will find SM have their own version of that garment at a cheaper price and sometimes at a better quality. So, for the Iloilo Designers Week, with SM as one of the major sponsors, they showed us what's in store for us fashion-lovers.

IDW: On The Runway, Don Protacio and Mike Sorilla

Second day of the show was opened by a series of menswear designers, with each one having different style aesthetic. No two menswear designers had the same designs because each one was really unique. One thing is for sure though; all fashion-forward men would really lust over each garment. (While us girls would lust over the muscle-packed body and the handsome faces of the models, haha. Kidding!, not.)

First one is Don Protacio.

Drapes, harem pants, man skirt, cover-ups, cotton and leather blazers are what composed of Don Protacio’s collection, each one shouting androgyny. I wonder if Don was born in Japan, because Japanese street style is what first came into mind when the first look came out. Each of the garments has his name written all over it, because it’s really his style. If one sees his garment worn by a random person, you would easily recognize it as his because that’s how unique his style aesthetic is

Mike Sorilla

Menswear is quite hard to be designed since there isn't much variation in men’s clothes, but this challenge seemed to be easy in Mike’s case as he made blazers and suits more interesting by putting cut-out details on sleeves and the pocket areas. He also made them seem less formal by sending out models on the runway barefoot and with mouth-covers. He gives the ninjas and mobs an idea as to what their new uniforms should look like if they decided to change it . Haha. But kidding aside, I really love the way he gave the suits and blazers the feel of wearability not only on special occasions but also on normal days, and I think even women would look good on such kinds of blazers.

IDW: On The Runway, Bo Parcon and Jaki Penalosa

First of all, I just want to thank the coordinators of Iloilo Designers Week for giving us bloggers this opportunity to participate in the first ever fashion event of lloilo showcasing local talents, for accommodating us and giving us front row seats, no less. This helped us not only get our blogs noticed, but also helped us know other Iloilo bloggers and share each others’ passion for fashion. I hope there will be more of such kinds of event in the future. =D (naks, nagpapalakas.haha.)

Anyway, here are the first two designers I really admire, the ones really known here in Iloilo, and whom I’ve heard about for quite a while now, Bo Parcon and Jaki Penalosa.

BO PARCON

I really love Bo Parcon's designs, although I wouldn’t wear it cause it’s not really my style. I love the mix of hard and soft fabrics, and the color palette, gives off that cool vibe. I could see the likes of bloggers Paul Jatayna and Cecil Van Straten (CHUVANESS) on those clothes, very androgynous.

JAKI PENALOSA

Jaki is known for the use of hablon fabrics in her design, so I was kind of already expecting to see Hablon gowns and dresses in the runway. I really love how she plays with hablon, it seems like she never runs out of ideas of how to incorporate it in her designs. I also love the structured look of her garments, makes the garments look very elegant and world-class. If our president is a woman, she should be the one making their gowns and dresses.

Iloilo Designers Week

Hello again people! I just finished taking a long exam for my major subject, so I think I deserve a little break. And I'll use up the time to make an overdue post here in my neglected blog. But I really thank readers who still drop by here and make lovely comments on my previous posts. Thanks so much!!

Anyways, storms are hitting the country again, meaning rains every freaking day, but thank God, last Thursday was an exemption, so I was able to wear shorts. =)

As you can see, I really love this lace top + collar neckpiece combination that I wear it as much as I can. They look so dainty together. =)

And added with these loafers I got from a local department store. just.plain.perfect.

Anyways, something is good is coming to Iloilo! Iloilo Designers Week! I've been waiting for something like this to happen in Iloilo for so long, and now that it is finally happening, I'm just blessed enough to be able to be attending such. It is the "..the convergence of Iloilo's best designers as well as top designers from Manila".
